Excavator Operator Duties and Responsibilities Operating excavators and other heavy machinery according to best practices and safety standards Inspecting excavator and related equipment for any malfunctions or need for maintenance Reading and understanding blueprints, ground plans, or land surveys as necessary Excavating soil, rocks, and other materials, managing the controls for digging and moving loads Coordinating with other crew members and working in a team environment Following instructions and guidelines from supervisors or project managers Ensuring that the machinery is cleaned and stored properly at the end of each shift Observing all safety guidelines and procedures, including wearing protective gear and making sure construction sites are safe Reporting any issues or problems related to the machinery to the supervisor Communicate with dispatch, maintenance and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service. Ready-mix industry knowledge or related industry a plus.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Must hold a valid operator's license or certificate for operating heavy machinery, specifically an excavator. Able to work flexible schedules - times do vary Working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold and other outdoor environmental conditions. Operate equipment, tools and controls, perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists and feet, frequent reaching, climbing (up and down the truck several times a day), stooping, kneeling, crouching and sitting.
