SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to certify acceptable performance, test, repair, trouble-shoot, operionally check and modify aircraft turbine and auxiliary power units, and associed propulsion system components. Troubleshoots malfunctioning engines and interreled propulsion system components, determines degree of disassembly or certificion required, repairs or replaces defective components, diagnostic computers and associed hardware. Troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs sequential disassembly and assembly of gearboxes and auxiliary power units. Performs scheduled and special evaluions on installed engines, auxiliary power units, and associed airframe-mounted systems Performs command directed and locally established in-progress inspections (IPI) (certifying acceptable performance of all conventional or modified aircraft engines prior to their being installed in the aircraft or placed in inventory) of propulsion system components and associed equipment to determine adequacy of workmanship, merials and maintenance. Requisitions, processes, and accounts for supply assets as required by the repairable processing system. Provides technical advice and troubleshooting expertise to other work centers when propulsion systems affect or are affected by interreled aircraft systems, such as: electro-environmental, pneudraulic, fuel and avionics systems. Provides on-the-job training to lower graded personnel or newly assigned personnel regardless of grade. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions such as Operional Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) Inspections, Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises and performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Experience or training th has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operions and make prescribed modificions to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specificions, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

Must have least 18 months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operions and making prescribed modificions to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting of systems and wiring, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS

The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, and reach. The incumbent frequently lifts equipment and components weighing up to 10 pounds, and often lifts and carries assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, lifts, and other employees are available to assist when handling heavy or awkward items. Work assignments require the employee to climb steps and ladders and stand on slippery or inclined surfaces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work assignments are performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weher; on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces, or work stands; and in extreme temperure and humidity. The incumbent is subject to dangers from toxic fumes, dust, dirt, grease, lubricants, paints, and solvents and is required to wear protective clothing when required. Dangers also involve high-pressure air and fluids, and fast actuing metal aircraft surfaces such as landing gear, speed brakes, and flaps. Work assignments are subject to engine noise, he blast, intake suction, roting propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuing devices, liquid oxygen, and flammable and/ or explosive aircraft fuels, etc. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, electrical shock, strains, and bone fractures.

Other Requirements:

For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license.
