Clarificion from the agency On Board Federal Employees of the Maryland Nional Guard Duties Help The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operional readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviion unit personnel. This position is responsible for the following duties: Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documention for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Performs work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weher and night operions. Works with, coordines and oversees the work of lower graded aircraft mechanics and certifies the work of journey level workers in other trades working on the assigned aircraft. Performs damage assessments and repairs. Participes in mission preparion and recovery operions. Oversees installion of equipment for special missions. Expedites aircraft operions to include concurrent servicing, refueling, and/or reconfigurion of equipment for changes in operional missions. Performs preflight, thru flight, and post-flight inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance. Serves as the technical authority to identify and advise on requirements for airframe, mechanical, electrical/environmental, avionics, engine, and pneudraulic repairs on assigned aircraft. Works closely with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control personnel to report and maintain current aircraft stus. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Controls and performs work assignments based upon priorities, workload, availability of parts, facilities, merial and personnel. Coordines with maintenance supervisor(s) and production control on maintenance requirements to aircraft th require adjustment to changes in operional requirements. Observes and inspects performance of other workers work to insure compliance with applicable technical publicions, directives and local policy. Accomplishes operional tests of aircraft systems and components. Oversees ground movement of aircraft. Incumbent launches, recovers, parks and services aircraft. Makes diagnoses and solves malfunctions of aircraft systems and components by utilizing a wide variety of complex, ste of the art computerized and/or non-computerized Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE); by studying layout drawings, blueprints and wiring diagrams; and analyzing specificions and opering characteristics of aircraft and their components. GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificions. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have three years of experience and/or approprie training in such functions as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and reled ground support equipment. Must have experience and/or approprie training th would demonstre a thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and components in electrical, fuel, hydraulic, environmental and mechanical principles. Insures proper work sequence planning and review, and a thorough understanding of technical orders, maintenance regulions and management opering procedures. In addition to journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 or WU-10 grade level, positions this grade level may include performing duties as a dediced crew chief. Other positions may include responsibility for performing, coordining, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers. Some positions may include coordining the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft. Other positions may include serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candides' experience should be evalued based on duties performed rher than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
