The A&P Mechanic performs hands-on maintenance, inspections, repairs, and testing on vintage WWII-era and legacy aircraft to ensure safety, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance. This role supports award-winning restoration projects, routine scheduled maintenance, and any necessary troubleshooting or component overhauls. Reporting to the Restoration or Component Manager (as assigned), the A&P Mechanic works efficiently in a team environment while upholding AirCorps Aviation's reputation for world-class craftsmanship, precision, and historic authenticity in preserving aviation heritage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance & Inspections Perform routine and scheduled aircraft maintenance, annual inspections, and 100-hour inspections in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct thorough troubleshooting, repairs, and testing on airframes, powerplants, systems (flight controls, hydraulics, electrical, etc.), and components to ensure safety and compliance. Handle aircraft safely during ground operations, towing, and maintenance activities. Restoration & Project Support Support complex restoration projects by executing repairs, overhauls, and modifications on vintage piston-engine aircraft. Apply extensive experience and judgment to plan tasks, solve problems, and accomplish goals while staying on budget and meeting project deadlines. Documentation & Compliance Accurately complete and maintain all required maintenance records, logbook entries, work orders, and FAA-required paperwork. Ensure all work adheres to standard concepts, practices, and procedures in aircraft maintenance and Repair Station requirements. Workplace & Safety Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times, following proper safety protocols and using appropriate PPE. Perform a variety of complex tasks independently while collaborating with restoration and component teams. Identify potential issues and contribute to continuous improvement in processes and quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Rating (required).
Meet FAA eligibility requirements:
18 years or older, fluent in English (able to read, write, and speak clearly). 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in vintage aircraft maintenance, warbird restoration, general aviation, or piston-engine aircraft (well-rounded background preferred).
Meet FAA experience prerequisites:
18 months airframe or powerplant experience (or 30 months combined), or graduation from an FAA-approved aviation maintenance school. Proven ability to pass FAA written, oral, and practical tests (already certified or prepared to obtain certification). Familiarity with Repair Station operations and requirements is highly desirable. Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently under deadlines. Physical capability to stand, kneel, lie in awkward positions, work on ladders/scaffolding, lift/pull up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity. Passion for aviation history, WWII aircraft, warbirds, or historic restoration is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
$37-48/hr
