AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC

(TITLE 32), WG-8810-10, you will test and troubleshoot aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment; diagnose any malfunctions of rotor/propeller systems and make necessary repairs; repair and refinish blades/propellers using a variety of metal working tools and precision measuring instruments; perform troubleshooting of the powertrain systems using special tools and test equipment; diagnose any system malfunctions and make necessary repairs; subject rotor, propeller, and powertrain parts to a variety of nondestructive testing to identify imperfections not otherwise detected; opere magnetic, dye, or electronic equipment to identify or detect stress, cracks, or potential failures; refer findings to inspector for determinion of serviceability; align and balance assembled propellers/rotor blades by making approprie linkage adjustments and by making both chordwise and spanwise weight adjustments to bring blades into true balance; make final adjustments to balance, track, elimine vibrions and ensure proper revolutions per minute (RPM) by checking blade track utilizing special tracking equipment and making weight, trim tab, and control linkage adjustments; perform operional checks of installed aircraft blades and associed sub-systems both inflight and during aircraft maintenance ground runs; may participe in aerial flights which are defined by applicable Army publicions as Maintenance Test Flights; serve as a member of the flight crew for the purposes of observing, recording, and diagnosing malfunctions; assist in determining the airworthiness of aircraft or the functioning of specific items or components when expertise or services are required to accomplish in-flight test of equipment; wear and utilize approprie safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions; perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:

Experience or training th has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operions and make prescribed modificions to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specificions, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: (must have 10 months) Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operions and making prescribed modificions to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
