Will be responsible for day-to-day operations for General Aviation maintenance, planning, scheduling and shop coordination. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Shop Lead should be an experienced A&P, preferrably IA, comfortable working on a wide range of aircraft including piston, turboprop and light jets. The ideal candidate has avionics experience, but we are open to training in this area. Duties Conduct detailed inspections of aircraft airframes, powerplants, and related systems in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance tasks utilizing hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines. Diagnose mechanical issues through root cause analysis and implement effective repair solutions using schematics, CAD drawings, AutoCAD files, and technical manuals. Fabricate or modify aircraft components using sheet metal techniques, welding, soldering, and other fabrication methods to meet strict specifications. Coordinate daily workflow, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively to meet operational goals. Utilize and champion productivity tools to ensure hours billed are accurate, front office staff has access to info regarding customer projects, and be able to communicate with customers on technical aspects of their aircraft. Maintain detailed records within CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders, inspections, parts inventory, and maintenance history. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices in manufacturing processes, schematics interpretation, and equipment troubleshooting. Qualifications Valid FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certification combined with an active A&P license. Extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, including airframe and powerplant work within a military or civilian aviation environment. Strong mechanical knowledge with proficiency in schematics, and technical manuals. Hands-on experience with electrical systems, avionics, schematics interpretation, soldering techniques, and electrical troubleshooting using multimeters like ammeters and ohmmeters. Familiarity with manufacturing processes , including sheet metal fabrication, welding (including TIG/MIG), soldering, and precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Knowledge of FAA regulations (FAR Part 43 & 145), and aviation safety protocols. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining precision during equipment repair or component installation. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis; experience with CMMS systems is preferred. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members across various technical disciplines including aviation mechanics and manufacturing specialists.
