Job Description:
The Long Island Educational Opportunity Center (LIEOC) at Farmingdale State College is seeking knowledgeable and enthusiastic Adjunct Instructors to support an aviation training program that begins with shared foundational instruction and then splits into two specialized pathways: Pathway A - Aircraft Line Service Technician Pathway B - Aviation Guest Experience / Customer Service Representative Ideal candidates enjoy sharing their aviation related expertise and providing students with the prerequisite knowledge and technical skills to enter the aviation industry as either aircraft line service technicians or as Guest Experience/Customer Service Representatives. Applicants should apply for one pathway and indicate their preference in their application materials. Applicants are not expected to meet qualifications for both pathways.
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, industry-aligned instruction to adult learners preparing for aviation careers Provide interactive demonstrations using real-world aviation scenarios Maintain accurate academic records and provide timely, constructive feedback Ensure instruction aligns with applicable aviation standards and best practices Support student success through mentorship and career guidance Collaborate with program staff and adhere to LIEOC instructional expectations
Pathway A:
Aircraft Line Service Technician Adjunct Instructor Responsibilities:
Teach lessons covering Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operations, aircraft fuel storage and handling, and ramp operations Instruct students on
NFPA 407
standards, fueling safety standards, and other safety measures Ensure all instruction aligns with approved curriculum guidelines
Pathway B:
Aviation Guest Experience /
Customer Service Adjunct Instructor Responsibilities:
Teach lessons covering FBO operations, general aviation, business/corporate aviation, airline operations, and customer relations Instruct students on professional guest experience and customer service standards Demonstrate real-world FBO and airport customer service scenarios Ensure instruction aligns with aviation and FBO guest experience/customer service standard operating procedures (SOPs) and LIEOC approved curriculum Please indicate which pathway you are applying for in your cover letter: Pathway A - Aircraft Line Service Technician Pathway B - Aviation Guest Experience / Customer Service Representative Candidates with qualifications for both pathways may note this in their application. Aircraft Line Service Technician Adjunct Instructor Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Minimum of one year of experience as an FBO Line Service Technician Knowledge of general aviation and/or commercial airport operations Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Administration Experience as an FBO Line Service Technician Training Supervisor Bilingual -
Spanish Pathway B:
Aviation Guest Experience /
Customer Service Adjunct Instructor Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Minimum of one year of experience as an FBO guest experience or customer service representative Knowledge of general aviation and/or commercial airport/airline operations Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Administration Supervisory experience in FBO guest experience or customer service roles Bilingual -
