Job Title:
Senior Helicopter A&P Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on performing advanced maintenance, inspections, repairs, and upgrades on helicopters, with a strong emphasis on Bell and Airbus aircraft. You will use your A&P license and extensive helicopter experience to ensure all work meets high safety, quality, and regulatory standards, while coordinating documentation, parts, and project timelines within a busy hangar environment. Responsibilities Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on helicopters, ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations and internal quality standards. Work on Bell and Airbus helicopters, including repairs, upgrades, and installation of specialized kits, components, and avionics packages for air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate configurations. Maintain complete and accurate project paperwork in accordance with internal quality control and quality management procedures. Document all maintenance activities in a computer-based maintenance management system, ensuring traceability and compliance. Monitor and maintain article (aircraft) progress in line with workforce capacity and project timelines. Ensure all required documents for each aircraft are obtained, current, and properly organized. Verify that all required parts are sourced, received, inspected, and available for installation before work begins. Confirm that all projects, discrepancies, and open items on each aircraft are fully completed before release. Maintain an up-to-date status of each aircraft for review by leadership, including timelines and work progress. Update relevant stakeholders on any changes to aircraft progress, timelines, or scope of work. Coordinate and control the workforce assigned to each aircraft to optimize workflow and productivity. Maintain shop cleanliness and organization around each aircraft, promoting a safe and efficient work area. Ensure all tags are correctly completed and attached to their respective parts, maintaining clear identification and tracking. Produce consistently high-quality work, setting strong standards for workmanship and safety. Act as a team player with a positive, company-oriented attitude, supporting collaboration and mutual support within the hangar. Provide training as needed to personnel assigned to each aircraft, sharing technical knowledge and best practices. Monitor workflow on each aircraft and adjust priorities or assignments to keep projects on schedule. Work the person when required to meet project deadlines and operational needs. Essential Skills Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license. Minimum of 5+ years of experience performing maintenance and inspections on aircraft, with specific and substantial helicopter experience. Hands-on experience with helicopter maintenance, including airframe, engine, and systems work. Ability to document maintenance activities in a computer-based maintenance management system. Ownership and use of a complete set of personal tools appropriate for helicopter maintenance work. Ability to work the person when needed to support project timelines and operational requirements. Experience performing detailed aircraft inspections and resolving discrepancies. Demonstrated ability to consistently produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail. Strong communication skills to coordinate with other employees and keep stakeholders informed of project progress. Team-oriented mindset with a good attitude and company-focused approach. Additional Skills & Qualifications Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred but not required. Experience working on Bell helicopters. Experience working on Airbus helicopters. Experience in aircraft maintenance involving airframe, engine, and related systems. Ability to train and mentor other maintenance personnel on aircraft projects. Comfort working in a large hangar environment with multiple ongoing projects. Ability to manage and monitor workflow, workforce assignments, and project timelines. Work Environment Work takes place in a large hangar environment with approximately 45 employees, where helicopters are repaired, upgraded, and serviced, including fleet support and installation of full air medical, law enforcement, and VIP/corporate kits, components, and avionics packages. The setting involves hands-on work around active aircraft, maintenance equipment, and specialized tools, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and organized workflows. Employees use computer-based maintenance management systems and work collaboratively within a busy, project-driven facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
