Job Title:
F-16 Aircraft Mechanic / ProductionFACO APG
Technician Job Description This role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and modifying F-16 aircraft systems and powerplants in accordance with established written procedures, specifications, and standards. You will support production, final assembly, and flight operations/flight readiness activities while ensuring aircraft are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and program requirements. Responsibilities Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and modify F-16 aircraft systems and powerplants following established procedures, specifications, and standards. Perform detailed aircraft maintenance on landing gear, powerplants, flight controls, and associated systems. Conduct fueling and defueling operations in accordance with safety and operational guidelines. Support aircraft movement, launch, and recovery activities on the flight line and within production areas. Execute phase maintenance, final assembly, and flight operations/flight readiness tasks as assigned. Perform line maintenance and heavy maintenance, including depot-level maintenance when required. Use technical data, manuals, and schematics to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and systems issues. Carry out troubleshooting activities to identify root causes of malfunctions and implement corrective actions. Document all maintenance actions accurately and completely to meet program and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with other technicians and teams to ensure aircraft are delivered on schedule and meet quality standards. Follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures while working in a climate-controlled facility. Maintain eligibility for and adherence to requirements associated with a Secret security clearance. Essential Skills Minimum of 4+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, with 5+ years of recent aircraft experience preferred. F-16 or fighter jet maintenance experience highly preferred, including work on platforms such as F-35, F-22, F/A-18, or F-15. Hands-on experience with phase maintenance, final assembly, or flight operations/flight readiness. Proficiency in aircraft systems operation and maintenance, including landing gear, powerplants, flight controls, fueling/defueling, and aircraft movement/launch and recovery. Demonstrated ability to perform flight line maintenance, line maintenance, and heavy maintenance. Experience with depot-level maintenance activities. Active Secret security clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance required. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and systems issues on military aircraft. Ability to follow detailed written procedures, specifications, and standards with high attention to detail. Capability to work assigned shifts (1st, 2nd, or weekend) and adapt to production and operational demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications A&P license or equivalent airframe and powerplant certification preferred. Recent fighter aircraft experience strongly valued, even with 4 years of total aircraft maintenance experience. Experience working in a production, final assembly, or flight readiness environment on military aircraft. Familiarity with maintenance, repair, and modification programs for military defense aircraft such as C-130, P-3, UH-60, F-22, F-16, and similar platforms. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and maintenance documentation. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a high-performance environment. Willingness to work as a long-term contractor with interest in transitioning to a direct hire role if opportunities become available. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a climate-controlled facility at a major defense and aircraft manufacturing site, working with advanced military aircraft and associated systems. You must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or weekend shift as assigned after training: 1st Shift is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 2nd Shift is Monday through Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.; Weekend Shift is Thursday through Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work involves hands-on maintenance in production and flight line environments, adhering to strict safety, quality, and security protocols, and collaborating closely with other skilled technicians and teams. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
