Job Summary:
Maintains T-6 and T-38 aircraft under supervision, as required. Coordinates maintenance activities with senior section/branch personnel. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Performs all required aircraft servicing tasks to include, but not limited to, towing operations.
  • Operates ground support equipment and documents/reports discrepancies prior to use.
  • Performs all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
  • Completes all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.
  • Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Knowledge
  • A general working knowledge of the use of common aircraft hand tools and special tools required. Must be able to demonstrate minimal mechanical aptitude that would justify consideration for the Launch and Recovery Specialist position.
  • Education
  • Completion of high school or equivalent is required. The ability to read and write and to comprehend technical data is required.

  • Employees hired into the L&R job classification will rotate for four (4) months (a total of twelve (12) months each in the following
Work Sections:
PE, AR, and Flight line) once the employee has completed the twelve (12) months rotation they are eligible to bid for the promotion into the next available mechanic positions in accordance with the CBA.
  • Must be able to perform duties without difficulty and must successfully perform the Aircraft Mechanic OJT task and training requirements established by the Company.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and have the ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Normal color vision is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges.
