The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems, security systems, and access control systems, with the ability to work independently in the field and deliver high-quality service. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while utilizing your expertise to ensure systems remain fully operational, compliant, and reliable. Duties & Responsibilities Service & Repair Respond to service calls for fire alarm systems, intrusion alarms, access control, and CCTV systems Diagnose and troubleshoot system failures, false alarms, communication issues, and device malfunctions Replace and repair components including smoke detectors, pull stations, keypads, card readers, cameras, control panels, and wiring Troubleshoot wiring issues including grounds, shorts, and circuit faults Program and reprogram fire alarm panels, security systems, and access control systems Fully test systems after repairs to ensure proper operation Inspections & Testing Perform inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements Test all system components including detectors, notification devices, batteries, and control panels Conduct battery load testing and replace batteries as needed Verify system communication with monitoring stations Document all inspection results, deficiencies, and corrective actions Preventative Maintenance Clean and maintain smoke detectors, cameras, and security devices Update system software and firmware as required Check voltages, backup power supplies, and system health Adjust and maintain mechanical components such as door hardware and mag locks Customer Interaction Communicate clearly with building owners, property managers, and clients regarding system issues and repairs Provide basic training on system operation Answer questions regarding functionality, troubleshooting, and code compliance Build strong customer relationships to support ongoing service agreements and renewals Documentation & Compliance Complete detailed service reports for all work performed Record parts used, labor time, and system conditions Ensure all work meets NFPA standards, AHJ requirements, and manufacturer specifications Submit inspection reports and certificates of compliance in a timely manner Requirements Experience & Skills 2 years proven experience as a Fire Alarm and Security Systems Service Technician Strong hands-on experience with fire alarm, security, and access control systems required Ability to independently diagnose and repair complex system issues across multiple manufacturers Experience reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, blueprints, and system drawings Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and local fire alarm regulations Physical Requirements Ability to climb ladders and work at heights Ability to work in confined spaces Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Other Requirements Valid driver's license (must be cleared to drive company vehicle if applicable) Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills Must be available to start ASAP Scheduling varies based on customer needs
