MULTI-FAMILY & COMMERCIAL INSTALLER
Position Overview The Journeyman Installer is responsible for installing fire sprinkler systems according to blueprints, specifications, and local codes. This includes tasks such as laying out piping, installing sprinkler heads, valves, and pumps, and assisting with material preparation. The role requires adhering to safety protocols, maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring compliance with local building codes and industry standards. The installer will also work under supervision on basic tasks like drilling and securing piping, while continuously learning and improving through training and mentorship opportunities. Effective communication with team members and supervisors is key to successful project completion. Additionally, the role involves pursuing further education and certifications to advance in the field. Apprentice Installer Responsibilities Installing fire sprinkler systems according to blueprints, specifications, and local building codes. This involves laying out piping, installing sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, and other components. Assist in preparing materials and equipment needed for installation, such as measuring and cutting pipes, gathering fittings and fixtures, and organizing tools and supplies. Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries during installation, maintenance, and repair activities. This includes using appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe work practices. Study local building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with safety requirements during installations. Under supervision, perform basic tasks such as drilling holes for pipe supports, mounting hangers, and securing piping according to specifications. Learn to properly use, maintain, and care for tools and equipment used in fire sprinkler system installation. This includes cleaning tools, organizing equipment, and reporting any maintenance issues. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to understand instructions, ask for clarification when needed, and contribute to the overall success of installation projects through teamwork and cooperation. Take advantage of learning opportunities provided by experienced installers, including asking questions, observing techniques, and actively participating in training sessions or classes related to fire sprinkler system installation. Take initiative in pursuing additional training, certifications, and educational opportunities to further develop skills and advance in the field of fire sprinkler system installation. This may include attending trade schools, apprenticeship programs, or industry seminars. Any other tasks deemed necessary by TDI Management Skills and Qualifications Ability to work under pressure Active driver license required. Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills Self starter; able to work independently but also demonstrate the ability to be a team player with a can-do attitude Able to use basic hand tools Willingness to learn all aspects as it relates to fire sprinklers. Develops professional expertise by complying with company policies and procedures. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
