The ideal candidate ensures all fire protection systems are installed accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with stringent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and local building codes.
Key Responsibilities Project Oversight:
Manage multiple job sites, ensuring that fire sprinkler installations are completed on time and within budget.
Crew Management:
Supervise and schedule foremen, journeymen, and apprentices. Evaluate team performance, delegate tasks, and provide ongoing on-the-job training.
Quality Control & Inspections:
Conduct routine site walkthroughs to perform quality checks and ensure systems are installed correctly. Schedule and execute acceptance tests with local fire marshals and city inspectors.
Code Compliance:
Maintain a comprehensive, working knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 25) and local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) requirements.
Resource Coordination:
Oversee the procurement and inventory of materials, rental equipment, and necessary supplies on the job site.
Safety Enforcement:
Champion workplace safety. Enforce all OSHA and company-specific risk management policies, ensuring that crews possess the correct, up-to-date certifications.
Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the primary field contact for Project Managers, General Contractors, and clients. Provide input on RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and submittals.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in fire sprinkler system installation. Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman capacity is highly preferred.
Certifications:
Cal Fire Fitters Card Required or in the process of obtaining. NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) Level II or higher is strongly preferred. OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
Technical Skills:
Exceptional ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, architectural drawings, and system diagrams.
Leadership:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly in a fast-paced construction environment.
Mobility & Logistics:
Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record to operate a company vehicle. Must be physically capable of performing site walks, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods. Capable of climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects and equipment (up to 50 lbs) safely
