Job Summary:

Fortis Fire & Safety's National Accounts team is seeking skilled, self-motivated Fire Alarm Technicians to install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm and life safety systems on a high-profile, large-scale program. This is a rare opportunity to put your name on project work for a major, national client. This is a demanding, fast-paced role built for technicians who take pride in hard work: the scale of this program means significant hours and a real commitment, and we're looking for people ready to hit the ground running and keep pace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, program, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local and state codes Troubleshoot and repair system deficiencies, including panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances Perform scheduled inspections and functional testing, documenting results accurately Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) as needed Maintain accurate service records, reports, and required compliance documentation Ensure all work meets company quality standards and safety protocols Travel to job sites across assigned service areas as required

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven, hands-on experience as a Fire Alarm Technician (this is not an entry-level role) Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and Florida fire and life safety codes Experience with major fire alarm platforms (e.g., Notifier, Silent Knight, EST, Fire-Lite, or similar) State of Florida licensure/certification as required for the role (or ability to obtain) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record. Ability to travel and, at times, respond to urgent project needs Willingness and ability to work extended hours as project demands require Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety and code compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Fire Science, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related area of focus) NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II or higher) Manufacturer-specific certifications (Notifier, EST, Silent Knight, or similar) Experience on large-scale, commercial, or multi-site projects Familiarity with integrated life safety systems (sprinkler monitoring, suppression, mass notification, access control integration) Low-voltage license or electrical journeyman background OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Strong documentation and inspection reporting experience This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces.
