Low Voltage Technician Location:
Indianapolis, IN Position Overview We are seeking experienced Fire Alarm and Low Voltage Technicians to support projects throughout multiple school facilities in the Indianapolis School District. Technicians will be responsible for installing, routing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling systems while maintaining a clean and professional work environment within active educational facilities. This role requires individuals who can work independently, follow safety procedures, and perform high-quality installations with attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Install, route, secure, and support low voltage cabling systems. Perform Cat5e/Cat6 cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and termination. Install and remove raceway systems as needed. Test, troubleshoot, and verify cable performance. Support fire alarm, data, and communication system installations. Maintain clean work areas in occupied school environments. Follow project drawings, specifications, and site instructions. Adhere to all safety requirements and PPE standards. Communicate effectively with project leads and site contacts. Complete work efficiently while meeting quality expectations. Required Qualifications Experience installing and terminating low voltage cabling systems. Knowledge of Cat5/Cat6 structured cabling practices. Experience with raceway installation and cable management. Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, and construction documents. Proficiency with hand tools and low voltage testing equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Reliable transportation and ability to travel between school locations. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Fire Alarm installation experience. Experience working in educational, healthcare, or occupied facilities. BICSI, OSHA, NICET, or other relevant industry certifications. Previous lead technician experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work overhead. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods. Comfortable working in ceilings, utility spaces, and equipment rooms. Tools & Safety Equipment Technicians must provide standard low-voltage installation tools. Full PPE is required at all times while on site. Additional Information Project locations include multiple schools throughout Indianapolis. Work areas are active educational facilities and must be kept clean and organized. Interviews will be conducted by project leadership. Four openings available with immediate hiring needs. This position is ideal for experienced low-voltage and fire alarm technicians seeking a long-term project with the opportunity for extension. #tekone

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
