Based on experience, licensing, and technical background About the Company A growing skilled trades and facilities services company in the Portland, Maine area is expanding into fire suppression services. The company currently serves commercial clients across multiple building service divisions and is now exploring a dedicated fire suppression division focused on installation, service, testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair. This is a confidential opportunity and the company name will be shared later in the process with qualified candidates. About the Role We are looking for an experienced Fire Suppression Technician or Fire Sprinkler Fitter who can install, service, maintain, and repair fire suppression and fire protection systems in commercial buildings. This is a hands-on field role. The ideal candidate has experience working with fire sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, commercial kitchen suppression systems, fire extinguishers, or related life safety systems. Candidates with licenses, certifications, or strong hands-on fire suppression experience are strongly preferred. Responsibilities
  • Install, service, maintain, and repair fire suppression and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Work on commercial fire protection systems in buildings across Maine and/or New Hampshire.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and complete field repairs.
  • Support inspection and testing work when needed.
  • Work with inspectors, sales team members, supervisors, and customers to complete jobs professionally.
  • Read and follow work orders, service notes, drawings, or job instructions.
  • Follow applicable safety procedures, code requirements, and company standards.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, job materials, and company vehicle if assigned.
  • Complete job documentation and communicate updates clearly.
  • Represent the company professionally at customer sites. Requirements
  • Experience as a fire suppression technician, fire sprinkler fitter, fire protection technician, pipefitter, sprinkler installer, service technician, or related skilled trades role.
  • Hands-on experience installing, servicing, repairing, or maintaining fire suppression/fire protection systems.
  • Familiarity with commercial buildings and field service environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in the field.
  • Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel locally across Maine and/or New Hampshire. Strong Plus
  • 3+ years of fire suppression, fire sprinkler, fire protection, pipefitting, or related field experience.
  • Experience installing or repairing commercial fire sprinkler systems.
  • Experience with commercial kitchen suppression systems, including ANSUL or similar systems.
  • Experience with fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, kitchen hoods, sprinkler systems, or related fire protection equipment.
  • Experience supporting inspection, testing, or annual maintenance work.
  • Current or previous licenses/certifications related to fire suppression, sprinkler systems, pipefitting, inspection, or fire protection.
  • Ability to perform both installation/repair work and inspection/testing support.
  • Senior-level experience with the ability to help lead or train others.
Compensation Compensation will depend on experience, licensing, and the candidate's ability to install, service, repair, inspect, or support testing work.
