Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fire Door Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections of fire doors and related hardware in various commercial and residential properties to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes. This position requires travel, averaging two to three weeks per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct visual inspections of fire doors, including: Door frames and hardware (hinges, closers, latches, seals) Door condition (damage, warping, gaps) Operation and functionality of fire door assemblies Identify and document any deficiencies or code violations. Prepare clear and concise inspection reports with detailed findings, photographs, and recommended corrective actions. Communicate effectively with building owners, property managers, and contractors regarding inspection findings and necessary repairs. Maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs. Stay current on relevant fire codes, standards, and industry best practices. Assist with other fire safety-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Excellent observational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Ability to climb ladders and access various areas of buildings. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Requirements:
  • Must be self-driven, teachable, and hardworking.
  • Capability to work remotely for at least one week at a time, but typically no more than two weeks per month.
  • Basic mechanical understanding preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for approximately 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to utilize company-provided technology, including tablets, to record work and perform job functions.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and presence at all times.
  • Organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Ability to obtain and maintain company-provided inspection certifications related to NFPA 80.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
