Position Overview:
This is a full-time, on-site Fire Alarm Technician role based in Springfield, MO. The Fire Alarm Technician will install, program, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in residential and commercial buildings. Daily responsibilities include reading and interpreting plans and wiring diagrams, pulling and terminating low-voltage cable, mounting and connecting devices, and ensuring systems meet code and manufacturer specifications. The role involves troubleshooting system issues, performing repairs and upgrades, documenting work performed, and keeping accurate service records. The technician will interact with customers on-site, explain system operation, provide basic training on equipment use, and collaborate with team members, project managers, and other trades to complete projects safely and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems. Perform fire alarm inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance in accordance with NFPA standards and company procedures. Diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently and accurately. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Complete all required inspection reports, service documentation, and material tracking accurately and on time. Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Communicate professionally with customers regarding system operation, deficiencies, and recommended repairs. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure projects and service calls are completed on schedule. Requirements:
5+ years of experience in commercial fire alarm installation, service, or inspections preferred. Working knowledge of NFPA codes, low-voltage wiring, and fire alarm system programming. Experience with commercial fire alarm systems and related devices. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
