Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the Fire Alarm Service & Inspection Technician is to repair, service, and Inspect fire alarm systems as well as monitoring takeovers.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Knowledge of a variety of manufactures fire alarm systems.
  • Appropriate use of required tools and test equipment such as hand tools, multi-meter, battery load tester, laptop, lifts, etc. Knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards.
  • Test and inspections of fire alarm systems per local/national codes and standards.
  • Ability to identify and rectify faults to include ground, short, open, etc. Ability to identify deficiencies vs. grandfathered items. Understanding of software requirements when removing or replacing components.
  • Follow safety standards.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner (ex. timesheets, work reports, expenses, safety topics, inspections).
  • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist installation team as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
  • Additional duties as the role grows and expands.
QUALIFICATIONS
The items detailed below are standard criteria for success in this role but may be supplemented by relevant experience, education, and/or certifications to meet these qualifications. Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Communication
  • This role is responsible for preparing/submitting compliance documentation which will require reading, writing, and communicating proficiently in English, both internally and externally. Other
  • Valid driver's license with approved MVR.
  • Pass drug, alcohol, and background screening pursuant to company policy, which may additionally include customer contract specific screenings.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Communicate internally and externally in a professional manner
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time, locally.
Work Environment:
  • Frequent local travel and occasional regional and non-regional travel.
Employee will work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes & odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards frequently. Employees will occasionally encounter chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies and work site specific requirements.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift
<50lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus. Employee will occasional be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >50lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
