Fire & Security (Low Voltage) Design Engineer MSS Solutions, LLC currently has an opening available for a Low Voltage Fire & Security Engineer . Based on candidate skillsets and qualifications, this position will be located in either our Charlotte(NC) or Raleigh (NC) offices and serve all of our offices including our other offices in Asheville (NC), Raleigh (NC), Winston Salem (NC), Charlotte (NC), Greenville (SC), Columbia (SC), Charleston (SC), and Myrtle Beach (SC) offices. Candidate will be involved in MSS Fire and Security businesses and will perform duties in support of design, construction, startup and service support. This candidate will be responsible for innovative designs and approaches to meet the intent of project requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create fire alarm shop drawings including floor plan device layouts, equipment selections and bill of material lists, power supply voltage drop calculation, secondary battery load calculations, system narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation and construction administration. Receive project specifications from sales team and design associated fire alarm, security, and camera systems for installation. Prepare all required submittals and schedule subsequent hand-off to operations. May participate in initial job site walk through for assessment of current installations considered for retrofit or replacement. Support and assist the field installation and commissioning of security and/or fire detection and alarm systems in strict accordance with specifications and quality control. Interfaces with pre-construction team as required. Follows safety rules and keeps the work area in clean and orderly condition. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or associate degree in electrical engineering technology or other equivalent engineering disciplines and or an equivalent combination of education, training, and field experience Ability to satisfy North & South Carolina Security licensing requirements. Excellent oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of AutoCAD Position requires experience in preparation of contract fire alarm shop drawings and specifications, field survey skills, performing calculations, and a thorough knowledge of State and Federal fire alarm and building code standards. Preferred Requirements Five to ten years minimum of fire alarm system design engineering experience. Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems (Honeywell Notifier or Siemens product experience a plus) and associated Building and NFPA fire Code requirements. Knowledge of Security Alarm and Camera systems (Honeywell or Avigilon product brand experience a plus) and associated Building and NFPA and Security Code requirements. Experience in Healthcare and Data Center design a plus NICET Fire Alarm Systems certifications a plus Licensed Professional Engineer a plus
