Job Description

The Fire Sprinkler Journeyman performs tasks at various job sites. The role requires a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire sprinkler systems in commercial and industrial buildings. The Fire Sprinkler Journeyman requires advanced knowledge of fire protection codes and standards, local AHJ requirements, and safety protocols to ensure that sprinkler systems are operational and meet all regulatory requirements. The Journeyman will work closely with other professionals to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Install fire sprinkler systems, piping, and associated equipment according to blueprints, local codes, and safety regulations. Inspect, test, and repair existing fire sprinkler systems to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards. Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan the layout and installation of sprinkler systems. Ensure all installations meet local, state, and national fire codes. Diagnose issues with malfunctioning sprinkler systems, identify the root cause, and implement effective solutions. Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to prevent accidents on the job site, ensuring the safety of oneself and others. Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan the layout and installation of sprinkler systems. This position could require overnight travel with the possibility of extended stays out of the local area. Picking and sorting of pipe, fittings and hardware associated with the building construction trades. Sorting and staging fire sprinkler pipe and materials. Cleaning and prepping sprinkler pipe for installation. Hauling pipe, fittings and hardware from staging areas to installation location. Load and/or unloading trucks manually or with motorized lifts. Measuring, cutting and grooving/threading sprinkler pipe to specifications. Cutting and drilling penetrations through walls and floors for pipe installation. Inspecting tools, cords and ladder/lifts as needed per Foreman's direction. Assisting with inventory of construction materials on job sights and office/shop areas. Maintaining a clean job site that could include sweeping, picking up loose materials, cleaning and organizing the work area, removing shavings from oiler, replacing threading machine cardboard/plywood, wiping down oil spray. Driving company vehicles (½ and ¾ ton pickups). Following compliance with any stipulations set by the General Contractor enabling onsite installation. Other duties as assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
High school diploma or
GED. DOL JM
status preferred. At least 4 years of experience in the Fire Sprinkler field. Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel and have a flexible work schedule. Team oriented focus.
Other Duties:
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to work at excessive heights. Ability to walk and maneuver self around construction job sites and climb ladders. Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy pipe daily (10-40 lbs frequently and 50-75 lbs occasionally). Bending and squatting frequently and for long periods of time. Reaching and performing work above shoulder level frequently and for long periods of time. Ability to withstand occasional exposure to hot, cold, and/or inclement weather on job sites. Ability to wear PPE such as steel toe shoes, ear plugs, safety glass, safety harnesses, and hard hats occasionally on job sites.
