Role Description The Fire Alarm Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in King of Prussia, PA. This position is responsible for designing code-compliant fire alarm systems, including preparing detailed drawings, system layouts, and device coordination using CAD or similar design tools. The role involves reviewing project specifications, interpreting building and fire codes, and collaborating with sales, project management, and field teams to develop accurate designs and support project bids. The Fire Alarm Designer will perform calculations, prepare material lists, and assist with submittal packages and as-built documentation. Day-to-day work includes coordinating with contractors and clients, responding to design-related questions, and ensuring that all designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Qualifications Strong proficiency in fire alarm system design, including reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, and creating detailed layouts with CAD or similar software. Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC, NEC) and the ability to apply them to fire alarm system design and documentation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including performing basic system calculations and preparing accurate bill of materials. Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and clients, and for preparing clear technical documentation. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on-site in King of Prussia, PA and collaborate closely with technical staff, project managers, and sales professionals. Prior experience in fire protection, security systems, or building systems design is strongly preferred. Relevant technical education or certification (e.g., engineering technology, drafting/design, NICET certification in fire alarm systems) is beneficial.
