Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Access Control / Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of security and fire alarm systems across various commercial and industrial sites. Your expertise will ensure that safety protocols are met, systems operate reliably, and customer satisfaction remains high. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge security technology while providing essential safety solutions to clients. Duties Install, configure, and test access control systems, fire alarm panels, CCTV surveillance, sensors, and related security equipment in accordance with technical schematics and electrical blueprints. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on low-voltage electrical wiring, cabling, and telecommunication systems to ensure optimal system performance. Troubleshoot complex issues involving system design flaws, equipment malfunctions, or network connectivity problems using technical troubleshooting support. Interpret technical drawings and schematics to accurately install or repair security systems such as IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), door security system integration, and alarm & access control systems. Conduct remote access software configuration and system upgrades to enhance security measures and operational efficiency. Collaborate with clients to provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, performing training sessions, and addressing concerns promptly. Maintain detailed service records, installation logs, incident reports, and asset protection documentation for compliance and quality assurance. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using power tools and hand tools for precise installation and repairs. Proficiency in electrical security system installation including low-voltage electrical systems, wiring techniques, and interpreting schematics. Extensive experience with fire alarm systems, CCTV surveillance equipment, sensors, intercoms, and other physical security devices. Knowledge of computer hardware setup, network configuration including computer networking principles, remote access software, and telecommunication systems. Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues related to low voltage electrical wiring, system design flaws, or hardware failures efficiently. Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards for electrical wiring safety and construction experience is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical clients. Experience in alarm system sales or construction environments is advantageous for understanding client needs from installation through ongoing support.
