Team members contribute to shaping the next generation of digital design and construction practices. Role Description The Fire Sprinkler Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX. This role is responsible for designing code-compliant fire sprinkler systems using industry-standard design software and BIM tools, producing detailed layouts, calculations, and drawings for new and existing buildings. Daily activities include reviewing architectural and engineering plans, coordinating with project managers, field teams, and other disciplines, and updating designs based on project requirements and code reviews. The designer prepares material listings, assists with submittal packages, and supports coordination meetings to resolve clashes and ensure accurate installation. The role also involves maintaining project documentation, adhering to safety and industry standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes. Qualifications Fire protection and design skills, including experience with fire sprinkler system layout, hydraulic calculations, and understanding of NFPA and local fire codes. BIM/VDC-related skills, such as proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar 3D modeling tools, and the ability to work in coordinated multi-discipline models. Technical and analytical skills, including strong attention to detail, plan reading, and problem-solving ability in complex building environments. Project and collaboration skills, including clear communication, ability to work effectively with engineers, contractors, and field staff, and manage deadlines across multiple projects.

Beneficial qualifications:

prior experience in fire protection or MEP design; familiarity with construction practices; understanding of AEC industry standards; and experience in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Education and certification:

associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, construction technology, or related field preferred; NICET certification in fire protection design is a plus. Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX, maintain professional conduct in a team setting, and commit to ongoing learning in digital design and fire protection technologies.

Pay:

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
