Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Electronic Security Systems Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Alarm Security Systems, Access Control Systems, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance Systems across residential, commercial, and federal properties around the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering top-notch security solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation:
Install and configure Alarm Security Systems, Access Control Systems, and CCTV Surveillance Systems. Ensure systems are installed according to specifications and operational requirements. Conduct site assessments to determine system requirements and configurations.
Maintenance & Repair:
Perform preventative maintenance on security systems to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and repair faults or malfunctions in security equipment. Replace or upgrade components as necessary to maintain system functionality.
System Integration:
Integrate security systems with other building management systems and technologies. Ensure seamless operation and interoperability between different security systems. Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues as they arise.
Customer Service:
Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients. Train clients on system usage and best practices for security management. Address and resolve client concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Prepare detailed reports and documentation for client and internal use. Update system diagrams and schematics as necessary.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all installations and maintenance activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications preferred, but not required. Additional certifications or training related to security systems are a plus.
Experience:
Experience with security systems, electrical, mechanical, automotive, carpentry or similar role. Experience with installing and maintaining some or all of the following: Alarm Security Systems, Access Control Systems, and CCTV Surveillance Systems, preferred but not required. Familiarity with both residential and commercial security system installations, preferred but not required.
Skills:
Technical knowledge of security systems and their components. Ability to learn and retain information. Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Physical Activity:
Stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to handle tools and equipment, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Communication:
Talk and listen effectively to communicate with clients, team members, and supervisors.
Vision:
Utilize vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and color recognition to perform tasks accurately and safely.
Working Conditions:
Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions and circumstances, including but not limited to:
Elevated Positions:
Ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
Confined Spaces:
Wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, and above ceilings. The employee may encounter varying environmental conditions such as exposure to dust, noise, and inclement weather, and must be able to work in these conditions safely and effectively.
Lifting and Carrying:
Lift, move, and hold equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional on-call or emergency response. Willingness to undergo background checks and security clearances (e.g. DCJS Certification).
