Job Description

Alarm and Detection Field Technician Cosco Fire Protection $56.64 to $61.79 per hour - Benefits are provided by the collective bargaining agreement with Local 46 of the IBEW. company vehicle 4308 South 131st Place (Show on map) Jun 03, 2026
GENERAL Own all safety practices and company policies
Install, wire, and configure fire alarm systems, including control panels, devices, and associated components
Perform system testing, inspection, and troubleshooting in accordance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 72)
Diagnose and repair system faults, wiring issues, and device failures
Program and commission fire alarm panels (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Siemens, etc.)
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and as-built drawings
Coordinate with project managers, electricians, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), and other trades
Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national fire and electrical codes
Provide professional communication with customers on-site
Represent the company and union in a professional manner on all job sites
Qualifications 2+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, service, or related electrical field
Working knowledge of fire alarm systems and life safety codes (NFPA 72 preferred)
Experience with low-voltage wiring and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license with clean driving record Preferred Qualifications NICET certification (Level II-IV in Fire Alarm Systems)
Experience with major fire alarm manufacturers (Notifier, Simplex, Siemens, Edwards, etc.)
State or local fire alarm/electrical license (if applicable)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Compensation & Benefits Overtime opportunities
Company vehicle (if applicable)
Training and certification support Work Environment Commercial construction sites, industrial facilities, and occupied buildings
Work may include new construction, retrofits, and service calls
Exposure to typical construction site conditions and environments
Successful candidate must join Local Union 46 of the IBEW for the Sound and Communication Collective Bargaining Agreement.
