Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Low Voltage / Security System Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of low voltage systems including security, surveillance, fire alarm, access control, and telecommunication systems. Your expertise will ensure that client facilities operate securely and efficiently by delivering high-quality service and technical support. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, develop your technical skills, and contribute to the safety and security of our clients' environments. •Experience preferred but not required. Duties Install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage security systems such as CCTV cameras, sensors, alarms, fire alarms, and access control devices. Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately complete system installations. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on security hardware including CCTV equipment, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), sensors, and lock mechanisms. Conduct cabling and wiring for low voltage systems using hand tools and power tools while adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Utilize remote access software to diagnose issues remotely and perform system updates or configurations as needed. Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to ensure proper integration of security systems into the facility's infrastructure. Provide field service support by troubleshooting electrical issues related to low voltage systems and ensuring optimal operation of all installed equipment. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, service reports, schematics updates, and incident logs for client records. Assist in sales efforts by providing technical expertise on alarm system features and capabilities during client consultations. Skills Strong knowledge of computer networking principles relevant to security systems and remote access configurations. Mechanical aptitude with experience handling power tools, hand tools, and construction-related tasks. Proven field service experience with installing or servicing security or surveillance systems in commercial or industrial settings. Familiarity with computer hardware components used in security devices and network infrastructure. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals accurately. Experience working with IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), sensors (motion detectors, glass break sensors), CCTV cameras, fire alarms, and access control hardware. Knowledge of NEC electrical standards applicable to low voltage wiring projects. Competence in cabling techniques for structured wiring installations including fiber optics or copper cabling. Understanding of security system design principles including remote access software integration. Excellent troubleshooting skills combined with strong electrical experience to diagnose issues efficiently. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members alike. $18.00 - $40.00 per hour
