Job Description

ASAP installs and maintains Access Control Systems, Fire Alarms, Mass Notification Systems, Intercom Systems, Custom Commercial Security Solutions, and Video Surveillance. Headquartered in Winfield, WV, we also operate a satellite office in Fairmont, WV. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to install, service, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems across commercial and institutional sites. The ideal candidate has hands-on field experience with security, access control, fire alarm, and CCTV systems, a solid understanding of low-voltage wiring and codes, and a commitment to safety and excellent customer service. Travel to customer sites is required (never on weekends). ASAP provides a company truck for travel from the office, plus a company laptop and cell phone. Key Responsibilities Install, program, test, and maintain low-voltage systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion alarms, fire alarm components, intercoms, and mass notification equipment. Perform routine inspections, system testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure NFPA/industry and customer compliance. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning systems and components promptly. Read and follow plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer instructions. Adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and company safety policies on every job. Use power and hand tools safely and effectively to mount, wire, and secure equipment. Accurately document work performed, system configurations, service reports, and materials used. Communicate professionally with customers about system operation, maintenance, and recommended repairs or upgrades. Collaborate with the team and project managers to meet schedules and quality standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Low Voltage Technician, Security Technician, or similar field-service role. Working knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion/alarm systems, and fire alarm devices and wiring practices. Familiarity with NEC and applicable NFPA requirements for low-voltage and fire-related work. Comfortable using multimeters, basic test equipment, power tools, and hand tools. Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in commercial and industrial environments. Valid driver's license required for travel to job sites. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training or certifications (NICET, CTS, manufacturer certifications, state licenses) a plus.
