Job Title:
Auto Body Painter Job Description This role focuses on performing high-quality auto body work and refinishing on vehicles, including all related preparation and finishing tasks. You will carry out painting, body repair, and accessory installation while following established procedures to protect vehicles, ensure accurate work, and maintain a safe, clean environment. Responsibilities Perform body work on vehicles, including all incidental repair and refinishing tasks required to restore or prepare vehicles. Carry out automotive painting using spray guns and other equipment, ensuring consistent, high-quality finishes. Mix and formulate paint to match vehicle colors accurately, following paint specifications and OEM standards. Perform paint preparation activities such as masking, sanding, and paint prep to ensure proper adhesion and finish. Conduct polishing and finishing work to remove imperfections and achieve a smooth, professional surface. Perform paint matching to ensure color accuracy and consistency across vehicle panels. Complete estimations related to body work and painting as needed. Scan vehicles using a mobile scanner to verify that required items and accessories are installed correctly. Use hand tools, including breaker bars and torque wrenches, to remove standard accessories and install upgraded accessories according to standard operating procedures. Use power tools safely and effectively to support body work, painting, and accessory installation. Perform daily checks of company equipment to ensure it is in safe, proper working condition. Take appropriate precautionary measures to avoid damaging vehicles and accessories, and report any damage immediately to a supervisor. Troubleshoot installation discrepancies and perform necessary repairs to comply with installation procedures and quality standards. Move vehicles as needed and work safely around moving vehicles within the facility. Perform other body shop and warehouse duties as assigned by the company. Essential Skills Experience with industrial painting and automotive spray gun operation. Proficiency in auto body painting, including paint prep, application, and finishing. Skill in paint mixing and formulation to achieve accurate color matching. Ability to perform polishing and finishing work on painted surfaces. Experience using power tools in an auto body or mechanical environment. Proficiency with hand tools such as breaker bars and torque wrenches. Ability to perform mechanical and accessory installation tasks according to standard operating procedures. Competence in using a mobile scanner to verify installations and vehicle configurations. PPG Certification. OEM painting-related certification and ability to meet OEM certification standards (painting, paint mixing, etc.). Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to operate vehicles with automatic transmissions. Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in auto body repair and refinishing in a production environment. Familiarity with paint matching processes and techniques. Experience working in a clean warehouse or body shop environment with new vehicles. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles is recommended but not required. Attention to detail and strong focus on preventing damage to vehicles and accessories. Capability to follow standard operating procedures and OEM guidelines. Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving installation discrepancies. Comfort working with both mechanical and cosmetic aspects of vehicles. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is based in a clean warehouse environment working primarily with brand new vehicles. You will regularly move and operate vehicles, mainly with automatic transmissions, within the facility. The work involves frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift. You will use spray guns, paint mixing tools, hand tools such as breaker bars and torque wrenches, and various power tools, as well as mobile scanners and other shop equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, equipment care, and adherence to standard operating procedures while performing body shop and painting tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tacoma, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.25 - $32.25/hr.
