General Overview The primary function of this position is to repair body and paint damage to vehicles and equipment. Incumbent serves as an advanced-level worker performing the most complex body/paint repairs on vehicles, equipment, parts, and metal fabrications. Job duties include but are not limited to body/paint repairs, removing and replacing upholstery, electrical accessories, glass, latches, hinges, lights and accessories. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Job Duties:
Incumbent serves as an advanced-level worker performing the most complex body/paint repairs on vehicles, equipment, parts, and metal fabrications. Removes all dents, scratches, pits, and dimples in damaged body sections using metal cutting tools, air grinders, wrenches, welding and acetylene torch equipment, pick hammers and punches to straighten and repair body damage. Remove upholstery, electrical accessories, windows and seats, operating equipment, trim, headlights, bumpers, and grills in order to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders. Replaces windows, door latches, door hinges, and weather stripping. Removes and installs external safety lights, grill guards, running boards, toolboxes to vehicles and equipment. Incumbent must have knowledge of Mixing paint, reducer, and hardener ratios, and paint matching according to paint manufacturer 'recommendations in relation to body condition, temperature and humidity. May perform light mechanic work to assist shop mechanics or to complete assignments. Properly maintains tools, equipment, keeping work area clean, organized, and in good working order.

The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as to maintain the following licensing and operate the following equipment: Valid driver's license at time of appointment Operate a state owned vehicle Perform duties in extreme weather conditions such as rain, cold, or heat Submit to random drug testing as required

This position may be filled as a Job Appointment, Promotional or Probationary Appointment requiring 12-24 months on probation
Work Schedule :
Work schedule and hours may vary. The incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Compensation:
Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Below is the starting hourly rate for this position. Starting salary is $ 22.52 /hourly
