Responsibilities Perform auto body repairs including dent removal, panel replacement, and surface preparation using hand tools and power tools. Apply primers, paints, coatings, and finishes using conventional spray guns and airless paint sprayers to achieve smooth, durable surfaces. Conduct sanding, buffing, polishing, and detailing to restore vehicles to their original condition or better. Prepare surfaces through masking, sanding, grinding, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality. Use welding techniques for minor structural repairs when necessary, ensuring safety standards are maintained. Inspect vehicles thoroughly for damage assessment and communicate repair estimates accurately; assist with auto estimating when needed. Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to all safety protocols including respiratory protection and proper handling of paints and chemicals. Requirements Proven experience in auto body repair, auto painting, or related automotive refinishing roles; dealership experience is a plus. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate hand tools, grinders, sanders, buffing machines, and other power tools efficiently. Familiarity with surface preparation techniques such as masking, sanding, grinding, and auto restoration processes. Knowledge of automotive surface preparation methods including the use of spray guns for painting and coating applications. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on vehicle components or parts. Welding skills are preferred; mechanical experience or background as an auto mechanic is advantageous. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about repairs and estimates. Commitment to safety practices including respiratory protection when working with paints or chemicals; understanding of automotive paints and finishes is essential.
