EXPERIENCED BODY SHOP TECHNICAN
The Body Technician is responsible for performing advanced structural and non-structural collision repairs while restoring vehicles to pre-accident condition in accordance with manufacturer specifications. This position requires expert-level knowledge of modern repair procedures, welding techniques, aluminum repair, and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Duties and Responsibilities Include but not limited to: Perform complete structural and non-structural collision repairs on all vehicle makes and models. Read and interpret repair plans, OEM repair procedures, and estimate documentation. Repair or replace damaged body panels, structural components, and vehicle assemblies. Perform frame and unibody measuring and straightening using computerized measuring systems. Complete MIG brazing, steel welding, aluminum welding, riveting, and bonding procedures according to manufacturer requirements. Repair aluminum and advanced high-strength steel vehicles following OEM certification standards. Ensure all repairs meet OEM, insurance, and company quality standards. Conduct repair quality inspections before vehicles move to the next production stage. Maintain proper documentation of repair progress. Communicate effectively with production managers, estimators, and teammates regarding repair status. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Properly maintain and care for company equipment and tools. Participate in ongoing manufacturer and I-CAR training .
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of collision repair experience. Expert knowledge of structural and cosmetic repairs. Experience with computerized measuring systems. Ability to perform aluminum repairs preferred. Ability to interpret OEM repair procedures. I-CAR training preferred. OEM certification experience is a plus. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass background and drug screening if required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced metal finishing and panel alignment skills. Expert welding and sectioning techniques. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work efficiently in a production environment. Excellent attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to safe work practices.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently lift up to 75 pounds. Stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday. Operate hand tools, power tools, welders, and repair equipment safely. Work in varying temperatures within a collision repair facility.
Performance Expectations:
Produce high-quality repairs that meet OEM standards. Meet established productivity and efficiency goals. Maintain low comeback and rework percentages. Complete repairs within scheduled production timelines. Demonstrate professionalism and contribute positively to team culture.
