With our fleet of flatbeds, stretch, lowboy, single- and double-drop trailers, we are recognized for dependable service to the oilfield, mining, construction, and manufacturing industries. Alaska West is currently seeking a Trailer Mechanic based out of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Mechanic will repair and maintain commercial trucks, machinery, and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. Responsibilities will include complying will all company safety policies and DOT regulations, performing routine maintenance and repairs on Commercial Motor Vehicle fleet, and… What makes you successful in this position: 1-3 years of proven work experience as diesel, trailer and heavy equipment mechanic experience Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment Excellent attention to detail and precision in work Ability to always follow all company policies and procedures
Duties and Responsibilities:
Services and inspects commercial motor vehicles and trailers. Interprets deficiencies as identified on driver's post trip inspection forms. Performs repairs to air ride and spring type suspension systems. Diagnoses and repairs electrical/lighting systems. Performs wheel end inspections and services. Performs annual Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections per FMCSR §396.19. Performs brake inspections per FMCSR §396.25. Performs basic computer functions by completing job work orders using Transman Fleet Equipment Maintenance System, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes. Operate company vehicles and forklifts in a safe, professional manner. Why should you work here?
