Job Description

L&M Equipment is seeking a skilled, motivated Auto Mechanic to service and repair our fleet of gasoline pickups and vans — roughly 25 Chevy Astro vans and a mix of about 12 Chevrolet 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups. This is a seasonal position starting with a 5-6 month commitment, to be re-evaluated by both parties at the end of the term. We work 6-7 days a week through summer and fall. It's a great fit for someone with strong diagnostic skills, a solid mechanical background, and the resourcefulness to work independently in a remote, field-style service environment. This is a genuinely unique opportunity to live and work in bush Alaska. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues across the fleet. Our most common needs are brakes, maintenance-reminder / service lights, diagnostic trouble codes, and tire changes and rotation.
Perform routine maintenance:
oil changes, fluid services, inspections, brake repairs, suspension and steering work, and general service. Diagnose and repair engine, fuel system, electrical, drivetrain, transmission, and differential problems. Use scan tools, wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals to troubleshoot accurately. Work with hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, and mobile service equipment. Communicate clearly with management on findings, needed repairs, and recommendations. Keep tools, work areas, and service vehicles clean and organized. Work safely and efficiently. Conditions can feel like a field service environment given the challenges of the bush — you'll often be waiting on parts for more than one vehicle at a time, so resourcefulness is essential. Qualifications Previous automotive fleet technician experience preferred. Solid knowledge of diagnostics, electrical and fuel systems, brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrains, and general repair. Able to read wiring diagrams, schematics, diagnostic codes, and technical service information. Experience with diagnostic scan tools and standard shop equipment. Dependable, motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license and your own basic tools required. Good communication skills.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Employee discount
