Immediately Job Description The job of Vehicle Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the availability of District vehicles and grounds equipment in safe operating condition including determining needed repairs and/or replacements; performing required repairs and preventative maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meet District, State, and Federal requirements. Essential Functions Adjusts parts and/or components Diagnoses potential equipment malfunctions, e.g., school buses, shop vehicles, food service trucks, tractors, trenchers, forklifts, grounds equipment, etc. Maintains tools, equipment and shop area Monitors fuel storage Prepares documentation, e.g., records of repairs, maintenance logs, etc. Procures equipment, supplies and materials Repairs systems/components, etc. Replaces all defective parts; transports various items to schools, e.g., mowers, supplies, chairs, tables, etc. Assists other trades, as may be required, e.g., welding duties, etc.
Qualifications:
Job related experience within specialized field is required. Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance. Ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License-Class B with passenger Endorsement. Air And Brake Endorsement. Random drug testing. Pre-placement Physical Exam. First Aid/CPR Certification within 4 months. Freon Recovery Recycling Certificate. Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements. This is a 12-month position.
