ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Public Works Department strives to improve the quality of life in Phoenix through the efficient delivery of outstanding solid waste, fleet, facilities, and energy management services. The Auto Parts Professional provides frontline support to fleet technicians through efficient parts counter service, including processing large volumes of parts requests, verifying goods receipts, and updating all transactions in the eProcurement and asset management systems.
Other responsibilities may include:
Contacting vendors to obtain revised invoices and statements for reconciliation. Reading, comprehending, and applying knowledge of laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and procedures governing public procurement. Understanding the fleet industry, contracts, and be compliant with procurement requirements. Verify warranty eligibility and ensure proper processing of all warranty parts.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Some college or technical degree in automotive equipment or a related field. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
The ability to:
Excel in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, particularly within parts support or warehouse operations, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Effectively manage reports, communications, and inventory-related data. Perform strongly within a team oriented, fast moving setting, maintaining accuracy and efficiency while supporting parts operations. Contribute to team efficiency by accurately handling reports, internal communications, and inventory related information. SALARY $21.54 per hour.
Pay Range Explanation:
Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only:
Please understand that this is pay grade 241. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance. Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade. When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in receiving, stocking, and issuing automotive and heavy equipment parts and supplies (or two years at the level of Automotive Parts Clerk I). All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position. This position requires the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Work and Environmental Conditions Requirements:
Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required. Some vacancies may occur on second / third shift. Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: Advanced experience with using Microsoft Word and Excel. Front part counter experience with heavy, medium, and light duty truck parts.
Experience with:
Operating a forklift or other warehouse equipment. Order tracking and follow up of special order parts. Offroad and industrial part ordering. Computerized inventory systems (CMMS) ensuring accurate tracking and efficient supply chain operations. Following government or municipal purchasing guidelines and utilizing purchasing programs to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness. Government procurement policies, practices, and procedures.
