Job Description

TITLE:
Mechanic
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate, GED and/or equivalent work experience. Journeyman experience as a mechanic with knowledge of heavy equipment and diesel motors. Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with the ability to obtain an AZ School Bus Driver and Passenger Endorsement including air brake certification. Successful driving record for the past three years with no DUI convictions. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, bend, stoop, climb and reach. Ability to pass an annual drug test and additional drug test as appropriate. Such alternatives to the above as the administration finds appropriate.

JOB GOAL
To maintain theTollesonElementarySchool District vehicles in a safe and working condition so they present no interruption in the educational process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Inspects, diagnoses and makes repairs of mechanical defects on all district gas and diesel vehicles. 2. Ability to complete work transmissions, engines, differentials, fuel and electrical systems. 3. Orders and secures parts for repairs, maintenance and inventory of supplies and equipment. 4. Maintain records of time, materials, and parts as required. 5. Maintain records for all repairs and servicing of vehicles. 6. Develop and maintain an effective system of routine vehicle maintenance and preventative care. 7. Checks vehicles to meet Federal and State safety standards 8. Assist in driver training as assigned. 9. Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all areas. 10. Maintains cleanliness of district. 11. Ability to perform as bus driver as needed. 12. Performs and completes other tasks as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve months, beginning salary Grade Six on the Classified Salary Schedule. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
