Overview Join our Locomotive team at the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel! Looking for a Vehical mechanic role where your experience is respected and your skills make a real impact? Job Summary:
This position is located at the Grand Canyon Railway Mechanical Shop. The position is responsible for overseeing the servicing, troubleshooting and mechanical repairs of the Grand Canyon Railway vehicle fleet and heavy equipment.

Responsible for all routine and non-routine vehicle and equipment maintenance which includes servicing, inspection, repair and appropriate testing. Keeps detailed maintenance logs and records of vehicles, repairs and maintenance work to be performed. Performs inspection of vehicles including interior, exterior and drivetrain. Demonstrates accuracy with reporting, problem solving and troubleshooting problems with the vehicles and equipment in a timely and efficient manner as problems arise. Maintains flexibility with work schedule shifts and additional required unscheduled hours to complete all project timelines and goals in a timely and efficient manner. Takes initiative and keeps a positive working environment with appropriate communication between team members and management while working under pressure. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality of work with all assigned projects. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be at least 19 years of age. Must possess a valid/clear Arizona Driver's License and be able to comply with the Xanterra/GCR Vehicle Policy. Minimum of three years verifiable work experience as an automotive or equipment mechanic. Mechanic certificate or degree from an accredited trade school or university is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Frequently standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, bending/stooping lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs. Twisting, using eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, using wrist motion, and ascending and descending ladder. Occasionally sitting, climbing, crawling, squatting/kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 100lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 100lbs. Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking. Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces and onboard moving equipment.
