The Role We're looking for a qualified Kia Technician to join our service department. Whether you're a seasoned Kia-certified tech or an experienced import technician ready to align with a new OEM, this is an opportunity to do quality work, stay current with factory training, and grow within a dealership group that's been around long enough to know how to take care of its people. What You'll Do Perform diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on Kia vehicles in accordance with OEM repair procedures and factory standards Complete warranty repairs accurately and in compliance with Kia Motors America guidelines, including proper documentation on all repair orders Stay current with Kia technical service bulletins (TSBs), recalls, and required factory training through Kia University Ensure all work performed meets BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) standards, including proper RO documentation, parts disposition, and customer authorization requirements Perform California smog inspections and emissions-related repairs in compliance with CARB and BAR licensing requirements where applicable Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation in accordance with dealership and OSHA standards Communicate effectively with service advisors on repair findings, estimated times, and any additional work identified What You Bring Demonstrated experience as an automotive technician at a franchised dealership; a fully certified Kia or Hyundai technician is greatly preferred Active Kia and/or Hyundai factory certifications strongly preferred; candidates without current certification must demonstrate a clear commitment to achieving Kia certification upon hire Familiarity with California BAR compliance requirements, including repair order documentation and smog inspection standards Working knowledge of diagnostic tools including GDS Mobile and other OEM-specific platforms A detail-oriented approach to warranty repair documentation and parts tagging Reliable, team-oriented, and committed to quality work on every vehicle Why Putnam Putnam has been part of this community for over 60 years because we invest in the right people and support them for the long term.
