Join Southern California's Leader in the Sign Industry We are seeking qualified, professional, and self-motivated individuals to service electronic digital billboards throughout Southern California. Paid training is provided. This position involves outdoor work using EMI's commercial service vehicle (commercial driver's license required) and requires travel throughout Southern California. Candidates must be comfortable working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and in physically demanding environments. Must be available to work weekends and holidays "on-call" as assigned.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Electronic Sign Service Technician coordinates and performs service activities related to electronic sign and billboard equipment. This role is responsible for investigating and resolving customer-reported technical issues, performing repairs, and implementing solutions to prevent future operational problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate EMI commercial boom trucks to service customer locations throughout Southern California.
  • Inspect malfunctioning or damaged LED display equipment to determine the nature and extent of issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot LED digital displays and recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, or corrective actions.
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on LED digital displays, illuminated signs, and identification displays.
  • Install and configure software on computers and display controllers.
  • Troubleshoot network and router configurations.
  • Provide Operations Manager with accurate parts and serial number information for repair estimates.
  • Maintain quality control standards and follow all safety procedures during service work.
  • Perform paint touch-ups and other cosmetic sign repairs as needed.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a communication link between customers and the company to ensure exceptional service.
  • Respond to emergency service calls as required.
  • Survey existing signs and collect measurements as needed.
  • Collaborate daily with EMI programmers, supervisors, and team members regarding repairs and projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals and deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Regular exposure to elevated and potentially hazardous work environments. Ability to stand, reach, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods. Ability to lift, move, and carry materials, equipment, and parts weighing up to 75 pounds or more on occasion. Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and at significant heights. Exposure to varying noise levels and environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
  • Acceptable driving record and background check
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in electrical sign service or related field
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, follow safety rules & procedures
  • Basic understanding of electronics theory and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic geometry and algebra
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with California freeways and the ability to travel throughout Southern California
  • Ability to work independently
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Annual Salary:
$72,800 - $80,000, depending on experience.

Schedule:
Full-time position Guaranteed 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Overtime and weekend work required as needed On-call for weekends and holidays assigned
