General Job Description:
Fleet Mechanic I is the entry level classification in the series. Assist Mechanic II with projects and services on various equipment. Learn to perform basic level services and cleaning of equipment. Gather weekly info from the fleet and enter it into the computer system. Learn the equipment and procedures to advance to Mechanic II over time. Make trips to drop off and pick up parts to assist in the repair of essential equipment. Learn the maintenance system and importance of preventative maintenance and record keeping. Fleet Mechanic II is a journey level classification in the series. Required to perform a wide variety of inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and other equipment. Repair and maintain equipment in a timely, cost effective, safe and customer-friendly manner. Prepare and complete paperwork in a timely manner. Communicate all parts and equipment needs in a timely fashion. Advance to Mechanic III over time.

- Assist Mechanic II in field and emergency repairs as needed
- Learn to perform periodic safety inspections on fleet
- Learn inventory and parts ordering procedures
- Inspect fire extinguishers monthly on equipment
- Perform weekly routine equipment checks
- Keep accurate and legible records
- Maintain and support a clean work environment
- Work within the safety guidelines; consistently demonstrate safe work habits and follow all company rules
- Other duties as assigned
Primary Responsibilities:
Mechanic II
- Perform maintenance and repair work on a wide variety gas and diesel powered equipment

Experience & Training:
Must have: Mechanic I Motivation to learn the fleet maintenance field Valid CA driver's license ( Class A preferred ) Safe driving record Ability to work flexible hours Availability to travel to our retail locations as needed Strong communication skills Strong organizational skills Some general automotive repair knowledge/ experience Provide and maintain basic appropriate hand tools Forklift experience a plus Must have: Mechanic II Knowledge of tools, equipment and procedures used in the overhaul, repair and adjustment of automotive and other power-driven equipment Strong communication skills Strong organizational skills Valid CA driver's license ( Class A preferred ) Safe driving record Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people at all levels throughout the organization Ability to work flexible hours Availability to travel to our retail locations as needed Provide and maintain the necessary complement of tools Forklift experience a plus
Essential Job Functions:

Full-time:

Compensation:
Fleet Mechanic I:
$23.25-$29.50/hour depending on experience, knowledge and skill
Fleet Mechanic II:
