SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Fleet Mechanic performs routine preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs to the company's ambulance fleet and other company vehicles. The Fleet Mechanic under direction of the fleet manager performs general vehicle maintenance procedures on company vehicles including and not limited to oil changes, tire changes, equipment safety inspections, vehicle repairs, vehicle cleaning, washing, waxing polishing. The Fleet Mechanic shall perform other duties as assigned by the fleet manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Test drive vehicles to reproduce and evaluate driver concerns
• Diagnose intermittent mechanical faults
• Perform standard maintenance on factory recommended intervals
• Provide additional maintenance flushes and services to extend the life of worn assemblies
• Perform inspections and make repairs
• Perform repairs according to approved procedures
• Install and repair specialized emergency/performance vehicle accessory equipment
• Detail, clean and maintain company vehicles including both exteriors and interiors
• Apply, remove and replace vinyl graphics and lettering to vehicles
• Keep a clean and orderly work station
• Assist in shop maintenance and cleaning as required
• Perform other tasks as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED. California Driver's License and acceptable driving record required. Must have the ability to interact other agency representatives in developing service. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in using hand tools, pneumatic tools, desktop computers and mobile electronic computer devices. Ability to work all shifts and varied shifts.
