Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full-time employees. We are currently seeking a Senior Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic for one of our City of San Bernardino Division. + $3000.00 Hiring Bonus •
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Diagnose/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment. Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines. Remove and replace transmissions and brakes. Repair, mount and dismount tires. Repair and replace hydraulic hoses. Remove and replace breaks Prepares and maintains records and reports. Must follow all safety procedures and policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance. Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of:
Mechanical design and fabrication. Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
Skill in:
Use of power and hand tools. Use of diagnostic equipment. Acetylene and electric arc welding. Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Ability to:
Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays. Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field. Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Prepare and maintain records and reports. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public. Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years of experience and/or training in CNG/LNG/Diesel truck repair and maintenance, required Or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Have a clean driving record Waste Industry experience, preferred In-frame engine overall experience, preferred Welding experience, preferred Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record, required
PHYSICAL
Be able to perform heavy lifting up to 75lbs. Physically demanding. Work overhead and underneath equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, and wind. Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust. Eligibility:
All newly hired Mechanic 1 or 2 in qualifying roles. Must be actively employed at each bonus milestone. $1,000 paid after 90 workdays of employment $1,000 paid after 6 months of employment $1,000 paid after 12 months of employment
