About North Bay Bavarian For 40+ years, North Bay Bavarian (NBB) has been one of the most respected independent German auto specialty shops in the North Bay. We specialize in BMW, Porsche, and Audi/VW. Our customers bring us their cars because they trust our craft, our diagnostics, and the relationships we build with them. This is not a chain shop. This is not a dealership. It is an independent, family-owned business with a clear standard and a team that takes pride in the work. The Role We are hiring an experienced Automotive Technician to diagnose and repair German performance and luxury vehicles to the standard our customers count on. You will work with factory-level diagnostic tools on BMW, Porsche, and Audi/VW, alongside a team of technicians who care about doing the job right the first time. Your focus is the work in the bay: clean diagnostics, precise repairs, and the kind of quality that keeps comebacks at zero. You'll work under the direction of our Shop Foreman, as part of a team led by our General Manager, with the structure and support to do your best work. Like any small shop, there will be times the team needs to pull together. Flexibility and a team-first mindset matter. What You'll Do Day to Day Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and drivability issues across BMW, Porsche, and Audi/VW Perform engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, brake, and A/C repairs with precision Use factory diagnostic tools (ISTA, PIWIS, ODIS) to troubleshoot, code, and run software updates Carry out repair orders accurately and provide clear labor, time, and parts estimates Road test and perform quality control checks before any car goes back to a customer Take direction from the Shop Foreman on job assignments, repair priorities, and technical escalations Coordinate with the Service Advisor and Parts Manager to keep work moving cleanly through the shop Work with the General Manager and Shop Foreman to uphold quality standards, keep comebacks down, and keep the shop running smoothly Keep an organized, clean workspace and account for shop and personal tools at all times Support and mentor less experienced technicians to uphold the shop's standard What You Need Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience with either BMW, Audi/VW, or Porsche required Proficiency with factory diagnostic software (ISTA, PIWIS, ODIS) and a strong grasp of electrical systems, ECU coding, and software updates Working knowledge of Mitchell1 or similar shop management software (we'll train on the specifics) ASE certifications preferred, or a willingness to obtain them Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized, with solid time management Comfortable with the pace of an independent shop: quick decisions, real ownership, quality that holds up Must be 21 or older with a valid, clean driver's license Genuine interest in the work and respect for the craft Nice to Have Factory training such as BMW STEP or Porsche PTAP Experience with performance work, track prep, or tuning Proficiency in suspension setup, alignment, and corner balancing What We Offer Compensation Competitive hourly pay based on experience Participation in the
