Automotive Painter / Refinish Technician Collision Shop - 2.3 Commerce City, CO Job Details Full-time | Contract $24.94 - $30.03 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Coating Driver's License Sanding Auto body repair Full Job Description Job Overview The Automotive Painter / Refinish Technician is responsible for preparing, refinishing, and restoring vehicles to manufacturer quality standards. This role requires precision in vehicle preparation, paint application, color matching, finishing, quality control, workflow coordination, and safety compliance. The Painter plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction by ensuring every vehicle leaves the paint department delivery-ready. Duties & Responsibilities Review repair orders and inspect all body repairs prior to paint to ensure vehicles are fully prepared for refinishing. Sand, clean, prime, seal, and mask vehicles properly to create a defect-free surface and protect surrounding components. Mix and match paint accurately using manufacturer formulas, tinting systems, and color matching tools. Apply paint, blends, clear coats, and specialty finishes using proper spray techniques, material ratios, and equipment settings. Inspect painted surfaces under proper lighting and perform touch-ups, wet sanding, polishing, and buffing to achieve delivery-ready quality. Coordinate daily with Body Technicians and the Production Manager regarding repair readiness, scheduling priorities, and production timelines. Maintain paint booths, spray guns, ventilation systems, mixing areas, and related equipment in safe and proper working condition. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with company housekeeping and operational standards. Follow all PPE requirements, hazardous material handling procedures, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards at all times. Communicate any quality concerns, repair deficiencies, equipment failures, or production delays immediately to management. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of automotive painting and refinishing experience preferred. Strong understanding of automotive paint systems, blending techniques, primers, sealers, and clear coat applications. Ability to accurately color match manufacturer finishes using computerized paint systems and manual tinting techniques. Experience operating paint booths, spray equipment, sanding tools, and polishing equipment. Strong attention to detail with commitment to high-quality workmanship and minimal rework. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while meeting deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across departments. Knowledge of OSHA safety practices, PPE requirements, SDS/MSDS handling, and environmental compliance standards. I-CAR certification or equivalent industry training preferred. Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred.
