Job Description

ROVING RENTAL & SANITATION TECHNICIAN - CDL CLASS A
Overview:
The Roving Rental & Sanitation Technician supports Rival Services' Rental and Sanitation divisions based on customer and operational needs. Duties may include fueling equipment; delivery and pickup of roll-off dumpsters and rental equipment; portable restroom service; and basic maintenance and repair of rental fleet equipment, primarily generators and diesel-powered equipment. This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles and equipment. The Technician must provide professional customer service and accurately complete required documentation.
Essential Functions:
Rove between Rental and Sanitation divisions and perform assigned duties based on customer and operational needs. Safely operate commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, and equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable DOT requirements. Perform required vehicle and equipment inspections and report safety or mechanical concerns. Load, secure, transport, deliver, exchange, and pick up roll-off dumpsters up to 40 yards in size and rental equipment. Fuel equipment and perform portable restroom and sanitation service duties as assigned. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform or assist with preventive maintenance and repairs of rental fleet equipment. Maintain working knowledge of assigned equipment, including its operation, capabilities, limitations, and controls. Complete required delivery, inspection, service, and repair documentation accurately and timely. Communicate equipment, safety, customer, and service concerns to appropriate personnel. Maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition. Follow management direction, provide professional customer service, assist other divisions, and perform other duties as assigned. No formal responsibility for supervising others.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and air brakes endorsement. Must meet and maintain applicable DOT driver qualification and company driving requirements. Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and associated equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently, follow direction, and adapt to changing assignments and priorities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Basic computer skills and ability to accurately complete written and electronic documentation. Ability to work overtime, weekends, extended shifts, and varying schedules as required. Must be able to read, write, and communicate work-related information in English. Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred. Technical or mechanical training and previous commercial driving, oil and gas, rental equipment, sanitation, construction, or industrial experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Travel:
Must be willing to travel throughout Eastern Colorado, Southern Wyoming, the Front Range, and surrounding areas.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed at company facilities, customer locations, and outdoor work sites. The employee may be exposed to moving vehicles and equipment, hand and power tools, fumes, airborne particles, fuels, propane, chemicals, electrical hazards, varying weather conditions, and moderate to high noise levels. The employee may be required to operate commercial vehicles and equipment for extended periods and work twelve (12) to fourteen (14) hour shifts, day or night, based on operational needs and applicable DOT requirements. Regular attendance and physical presence at assigned work locations are required. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, pull, position, and/or move up to fifty-five (55) pounds or more. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk across uneven terrain, sit for extended periods, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, work in confined spaces, and perform repetitive motions associated with driving, equipment operation, and maintenance. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Reports To:
Reports directly and is accountable to the Rental and/or Sanitation Manger. Due to the roving nature of the position, the employee may receive daily work assignments and direction from Rental and/or Sanitation Manager or other designated supervisor management personnel.
