You know your way around an engine. You can trace a wiring issue, work a multimeter, and usually figure out what's wrong before someone has to tell you. But have you ever thought about putting those skills to work on something much bigger? Our client is looking for a Heavy Capacity Scale Technician to work on truck scales and batch plant equipment throughout Connecticut and parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. No scale industry experience? That's okay. If you have 4+ years of hands-on automotive or mechanical repair experience, strong troubleshooting instincts, and basic electrical knowledge, they're willing to teach you the scale side of the job. Instead of spending every day working on the same type of equipment in the same place, you'll head into the field, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform calibrations and preventative maintenance, and learn directly from an experienced, hands-on owner. Never worked on a truck scale before? That's not a dealbreaker. If you bring the mechanical experience, troubleshooting ability, and willingness to learn, our client is open to teaching you the equipment. The Perks $23-$28/hour , based on experience Company-supplied vehicle for fieldwork 5 days of PTO available after a 90-day probationary period Monday-Friday schedule Hands-on training directly from the owner Room for growth for the right person Potential for company-paid CDL training in the future through an agreement
Typical Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM, with occasional days extending to approximately 5:00-6:00 PM depending on the length of the job.
Responsibilities include:
Performing truck scale and batch plant calibrations Completing preventative maintenance Performing basic repairs on truck scales and batch plant equipment Troubleshooting mechanical and basic electrical issues Working with load cell wiring Using a multimeter to troubleshoot wiring Using tools including combination wrenches, ratchets and sockets, right-angle grinders, and impact guns Traveling to customer sites throughout Connecticut and parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island Driving up to approximately 300 miles in a day depending on job location Reporting to the Manchester, CT office Working directly with the owner and learning additional technical responsibilities over time What We're Looking For 4+ years of hands-on automotive or mechanical repair experience OR direct weighing-industry experience Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving ability Proficiency with common hand and power tools Basic electrical and wiring experience Comfort using a multimeter Willingness to perform recurring preventative maintenance and calibration work in addition to repairs Ability to travel throughout Connecticut and parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island Ability to commute to the Manchester, CT office Ability to pass a Connecticut state judicial background check and drug test Apply for our Scale Technician role today!
