Fuel & Lube Technician 1 CRH 5 ( ) New Britain, CT Why you should apply for a job to
Inspect, report, and correct deficiencies on heavy equipment, including but not limited to reclaimers, milling machines, loaders, haul trucks, graders, dozers, pavers, rollers, dump trucks, ready‑mix trucks, trailers, and road tractors. Examine equipment and discuss the nature and extent of any damage or malfunction with the Shop Foreperson, equipment operator, or Project Manager. Raise equipment using hydraulic jacks, hoists, or cranes to access mechanical components. Repair or replace parts including, but not limited to drums, seals, buckets, hydraulic pumps, pistons, rods, gears, electric motors, valves, electrical wiring and components, radios, heaters, and wipers. Perform preventative maintenance on all brands and types of mobile equipment, following proper containment and disposal procedures for waste materials. Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations, including DOT, OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory agency requirements. Additional Responsibilities Maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and extended hours when required. Report to assigned job sites in uniform and ready to work at the designated start time. Perform additional tasks and assignments as directed by a supervisor. Strictly adhere to safety requirements outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
Comply with all Tilcon policies and procedures. Work effectively in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors as needed. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of five (5) years of related experience, preferably in a similar industry. Ownership of basic hand tools and toolbox appropriate for the job, up to 1¼". General Requirements Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees. Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Possession of a valid driver's license. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Ability to use a computer for work orders, timekeeping, email, and related systems. Basic welding skills. Strong communication skills to maintain positive and effective working relationships. Ability to operate and drive heavy equipment. Class B CDL required, with Hazmat, Tanker, and Air Brake endorsements. Excellent organizational skills.
Strong mechanical knowledge and aptitude. Physical Requirements The physical demands described below represent those required to perform the essential functions of this position. The position requires continuous bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, standing, walking, reaching, fine motor control, repetitive motion, and use of both hands. Sitting is not applicable to the essential functions of this role. Driving a service vehicle is required on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment, including lifting: 0-10 pounds on a continuous basis 10-25 pounds on a frequent basis 25-50 pounds occasionally 50-100 pounds occasionally Work Environment The work environment characteristics described below represent conditions an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The role involves frequent work outdoors and exposure to hot, cold, and wet weather conditions. When required, the Lube Mechanic will operate a service truck to perform maintenance and minor repairs at various job sites. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Report to work on time and dressed in required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean service truck and safe work environment by using all safety equipment and following all safety procedures. Interact with employees, supervisors, and others in a professional and respectful manner. Ensure required tools are accessible and properly maintained. Service all trucks and equipment using fuel, lubricants, grease, and filters. Perform minor repairs to trucks and heavy equipment.
