POSITION GOAL
To provide technical services that create a safe environment for all students and employees of Volusia County Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
- Work hours and locations will change as the need arises. Perform all duties according to scheduled hours and locations as assigned. 2.
- Assure the safety of children comes first. 3.

- Represent Volusia County School Board (VCSB) and the Department with a positive and professional service oriented demeanor. 5.
- Work as part of a team by establishing and maintaining working relationships that foster efficiency, productivity, quality results, and promotes cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public. 6.
- Evaluate needs at job site and on applicable blueprints and plans 7.
- Create estimate of time and materials needed for jobs. 8.
- Perform various types routine and complete of construction, cabinetry, carpentry fabrication, installation and repair which may include but not be limited to: rough carpentry, finish carpentry, cutting and installation of glass, re-locatable unit repair, ceramic, vinyl and ceiling tile work, concrete, windows, doors, flooring, masonry work, installing and finishing sheetrock, millwork, roof repair, door hardware installation 9.
- Install steps and platforms as needed. 10.
- Maintain accurate truck/trailer inventory of tools, equipment and supplies, as well as related lists/forms for each job. Supply appropriate personal hand tools related to the trade. 11.
- Evaluate performance/condition of assigned equipment on a daily basis. Assist with routing and preventive equipment maintenance procedures. 12.
- Report any damage/dangerous or hazardous situations related to work orders, equipment or vehicles to supervisor. 13.
- Maintain a clean orderly work environment, which includes the service truck and all equipment. 14.
- Utilize computer to perform accurate and timely completion and filing work orders timecards, and materials requests. 15.
- Effectively communicate related job information to team members, associates, and customers via email. 16.
- Assist in the moving, set-up and removal of portable classrooms. 17.
- Fabrication of millwork items, including but not limited to cabinets, bulletin boards, chalkboards, and countertops. 18.
- Remodel and renovate existing cabinet work, including resurfacing or new laminate 19.
- Perform all types of locksmith duties, including installation, replacement, re-keying, key cutting, and emergency entry. 20.
- Repair playground equipment, sidewalks, fencing and various internal and external building components. 21.

- Required Qualifications/Certifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or G.E.D., formal related vocational training preferred Minimum three (3) years experience in one or a combination of the following trades: Carpentry or Cabinetry Commercial, institutional, or residential remodeling and construction experience preferred Must be available after working hours (on-call) as a part of the emergency and disaster team Must be available for scheduled shift work Must be able to attend and complete various on-the-job training sessions Provide personal hand tools in accordance with established department list Possess a valid Florida Driver's License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver's License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required Must be able to operate school board vehicles, when assigned, in accordance with operational procedures and School Board Policy 505 REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of current technology, systems, and applications as it pertains to the related field Knowledge of Volusia County area or ability to navigate and/or follow maps and directions Ability to work alone or as part of a team Ability to work productively with little or no supervision Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing Ability to work flexible hours and shifts Ability to participate in all types of emergency/ disaster clean-up Ability to report to assigned work locations Desire to learn additional tasks through supervised maintenance job training
