Job Description

Job Summary:
Organics Management is seeking a skilled and reliable Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles used in composting and organic material processing operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with diesel engines, front-end loaders, skid steers, and other equipment commonly used in industrial and agricultural environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a variety of equipment, including loaders, trucks, grinders, screeners, and other composting machinery. Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and reduce downtime. Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and inspections using company-provided documentation systems. Ensure all repairs are completed in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Order parts and supplies as needed and manage inventory. Respond to emergency repair requests to minimize operational disruptions. Collaborate with operations and facility teams to schedule maintenance without impacting production. Assist in training operators on basic equipment care and daily checks.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in automotive/diesel repair preferred. Minimum of 3 years' experience as a mechanic in a similar environment. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Familiarity with heavy equipment used in agriculture, waste management, or construction. Ability to operate diagnostic tools and equipment. Must have a valid driver's license (CDL a plus). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks related to maintenance and repair.
Work Environment:
Outdoor/warehouse setting with exposure to varying weather conditions. Some weekend or after-hours work may be required depending on operational needs.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$26.00 - $32.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 55.0 per week
